HOW TO CROCHET KNOT PILLOW

Knot pillows are so beautiful and can’t get enough of it. Its even more exciting when its done out of crochet. Learn how to create 2 types of beautiful knot pillow with crochet in this post. Its such a satisfying and therapeutic art.

Why I Chose 2 color Combinations:

Hello again! Today’s posts is super special because I’m gonna be sharing something absolutely stunning today. The other day I saw this DIY video where a beautiful knot pillow was made out of a long fabric tube. I got pretty much drawn to the idea and so here’s the result in front of you with my experiment. I went ahead with my crochet hook and yarns and began the color selection. I had selected this beautiful dark olive green for this project. Little did the realise that I had run out of yarns in the middle of the project. Sadly and unfortunately due to Covid-19 and lockdown I couldn’t and didn’t want to go out to buy yarns. Buying online was too big a risk because this yarn was local and there’s no way it’ll turn out to be the exact shade. So dropping these 2 options I decided to turn the project into a little experiment. “What if I use 2 contrasting colors to give it a different look?” And so I went and pulled out all the yarn stash to look for my prize colour. The off-white worsted weight yarn just stood out and that’s how I selected my yarns. As simple as that!

wohooo!!! Now that my silly story is out lets go towards the project. On how to actually make one. You can always play around and experiment to see what you like and don’t like in a project. Sky is the limit. Let your creativity shine. Lets go!

Oh wait a minute, here’s what you require. This might contain affiliate links. When you make a purchase from this link I get a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Some suggested yarns and materials are given below:

Supply:

1) 3.50/4 mm crochet hook

2) A yarn weight and color of your choice. (I use worsted weight yarn, 2 colors of 300 gm each. It’ll come to about 900 m to 1000 m)

3) Stitch Marker

4) Polyester fillings to stuff the tube

5) Measuring tape

6) Needle to sew in ends and connect

7) Scissors

Abbreviations Used:

The terms are written in US terminology

sc: single crochet

ch: chain

st: stitch

slp st: slip stitch

inc: increase

R: round

STEPS OF CONSTRUCTIONS:

1) Crochet the Tube: We’re gonna begin by making a long tube. And for that we’er starting with a small circle.

R1: 6sc into the magic ring – (6 sts)

R2: sc inc into every st. – (12 sts)

R3: (1sc, inc) x 6 – (18 sts)

R4: (inc, 2sc) x 6 – (24 sts)

R5: [2sc, inc, (3sc, inc) x 5, 1sc] – (30 sts)

R6: (inc, 4sc) x 6 – (36 sts)

Note: Whatever hook size you’re using, stop increasing the circle once it reaches 5cm in diameter. Based on your hook and yarn weight, your rows might be lesser or more. But 5 cm diameter is a good size to stop.

R7: Put 1sc into every st – (36 sts)

2) Stuff the Tube along the way:

Remove st marker and repeat R7 until the tube is 6 meter long. And once the tube began to grow by a few inches, stuff it and continue crocheting. Try to maintain the same size of the tube while stuffing.

I used 2 colors. So each color is of 3 meter long.

Once the tube began to grow it becomes difficult to manage. So it is best if u crochet 2 tubes and join them later on regardless of whether it is of single colour or multiple colors.

3) Joining the 2 Tubes: Join both the tubes with a simple wip stitch. Pass the needle through 2 loops from the white section and then  the green section, and just pull the yarn through. when its done, secure the stitch and hide the extra tails.

4) Knotting to form the pillow:

Now comes the most exciting part of the whole project, transformation of the whole tube into a beautiful knot pillow.

1.The first knot used here is a version of the Turk’s Head Knot.

2.The second knot is the the transformation of the first knot into a ball.
