Crochet Necktie

Crocheting necktie isn’t that hard. Its just a little lengthy. Today I’m sharing a pattern which is beginner friendly and simple to construct. It’s worked with an increase row from the tip, and then extended for some 11 rows without any decrease. Then you’ll have the gradual decrease. Decreasing 1 row, 1 stitch in the middle and another 10 rows without any decrease. repeating this 5 times. then another 4 times of decrease in 1 row, crochet for 15 rows. then 1 more row of decrease, and 50 rows of straight hdc.

When I explain here it looks complicated. But once you see the pattern, you’d easily understand. Lets jump right into it.

Abbreviations used in the pattern (US terminology):

  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • ch = chain
  • R = row
  • = square
  • “= inches
  • inc = increase
  • dec = decrease

Gauge and Measurements:

5 rows and 6hdc = 1” sq. The finished piece measures a total length of 67”.

As for the width, it decreases as the rows increases, so it will depend on how tight or lose the tension is when crocheting.

Good size for a tie: The necktie is constructed from bottom towards the top. As the length increases it gets narrower towards the end. The first 18” is a good length from the knot to navel. The next 18” will be used to wrap around the neck and knotting. The next 25-26” is for the ease and adjustability.
